Project Neki Basket is inspired by the beautiful Turkish concept of ‘Neki ki Tokri’ (Basket of Good Deeds). In this concept, a basket is placed at a bakery or a roti shop. Customers will be able to donate a small portion of their purchase to the basket. The needy can freely pick up their share of food items from the basket anytime.
We’re converting this idea into a Virtual Basket wherein you can help those in need by donating cooked food, dry ration, or other essentials with just a few clicks.
For cooked food donations, we connect with a network of sources that often have excess items, including restaurants, bakeries, atta shops, roti shops, caterers, marriage halls, dabbawallas, residential societies, and other like-minded community kitchens and NGOs. For dry ration donation, we designate places like ration shops, grocery stores, meat shops, and egg stores as partner points of dispense (PODs).
we are addressing the causes by following FOOD TYPES

EVOLUTION OF NEKI BASKET
Leveraging technology, we are bridging physical and virtual platforms to encourage acts of goodness to help those in need.
PHYSICAL BASKET
Following the “Neki ki Tokri” concept, physical baskets will be placed at designated places like shops, residential societies, mosques, or other accessible spots for donation. Donors can directly contribute food items or dry rations into the baskets.
We will create awareness about these baskets through publicity campaigns in surrounding low-income areas to ensure those struggling can locate the baskets and collect the items they require without any restrictions. Our team will also place refrigerators in community spaces like mosques to facilitate the storage and distribution of perishable food items to the needy.
VIRTUAL BASKET
Here’s how our Virtual Basket works:
Step 1:
Designated shops in localities serve as points of dispense (PODs) where individuals in need can collect food items. These locations are denoted in our app.
Step 2:
Donors can view available baskets on the app based on their location and make an online donation towards a cause they support.
Step 3:
Once sufficient funds are collected for the donation of food, the ration or food items are packed and distributed from the designated location.
Step 4:
Needy individuals receive notifications to collect cooked items or dry rations from the PODs once available.
Step 5:
Donors get notified* when the beneficiary collects the cooked food or ration, providing transparency about how your contributions are utilized.
*End-to-end tracking and notifications are currently only available for food and dry ration donations. The feature will be implemented for the other causes/baskets soon.
Your support will help families fight hunger. Donate now.
